Group therapy

Why group therapy?

Some people find it unfamiliar at first to entrust their own thoughts and feelings not just to one person but to a whole group. Yet it is precisely this special form of psychotherapy that is particularly effective in many cases.

Group therapy can give back what has often been lost: hope, connection and the feeling of not being alone. Many experience for the first time: “I am not the only one with these feelings.”

Together it becomes clear: problems are manageable – not only alone, but with the support of others.

What group therapy can achieve

In the group, a protected space full of respect, appreciation and empathy is created. This opens up the possibility:

  • to learn from one another,
  • to gain new perspectives,
  • and to grow together.

Process & structure

Group size
4–7 participants
Duration
weekly sessions of 100 minutes
Content
each session is devoted to a disorder-relevant topic
Setting
expert, well-founded input & shared reflection

The groups are put together so that the concerns are similar or complement each other meaningfully. Each participant receives sufficient space to bring in personal concerns and to work on them with therapeutic guidance and the support of the group.

Coverage of costs

The costs for group therapy are – as with individual therapy – covered by the statutory health insurers.

Since the search for an individual therapy place often takes longer, group therapy is a valuable opportunity to address first concerns and develop solutions early on. The waiting times here are usually significantly shorter – your place on the waiting list for individual therapy nevertheless remains.

A combined treatment is also possible: individual and group therapy can take place in parallel, possibly even with different therapists. Please feel free to talk to us about this in the first conversation.

“Taster sessions” – just try it out first

The first step into group therapy is often not easy. Understandably, you only know in hindsight whether a group suits you and your concern.

We therefore offer you the opportunity to first take part in four so-called “taster sessions”. This way you can find out in peace whether you feel comfortable in the group and whether this form of therapy is right for you. In the first conversation we are happy to explain how these taster sessions work.

Our group therapy offers

Schema therapy group

Schema therapy group

Would you like to step out of distressing patterns and discover new ways for yourself? In the schema therapy group you have the opportunity to better understand your own behavioral and emotional patterns and to change them step by step. We work on lovingly caring for the wounded child mode, interrupting and disempowering inner critical voices, and replacing unhealthy coping strategies with helpful solutions. The goal is to strengthen the “healthy adult mode” and to develop new options for action in everyday life. The group offers a protected space in which you can grow with support and exchange.

“Understanding patterns – walking new paths”

Being a parent brings joy – and sometimes also overwhelm, self-doubt and conflict. In the schema therapy group for parents “Understanding patterns – walking new paths”, parents find a protected space for exchange, relief and personal development. Participants learn to perceive their own feelings and needs better, to recognise old patterns from their own childhood and to develop new, helpful ways of dealing with themselves and their children. The group combines exchange with practical exercises from schema therapy, emotion work and nonviolent communication, and is aimed at 6–9 parents with psychological strain.

Dates: Tuesdays 08:30–10:00

Social skills training

Social skills training

The aim of the training is to build and improve social skills. It fosters the development of personal and social abilities and supports you in acting more confidently and self-assuredly in different social contexts. Through the use of special exercises, situations are worked on together in which difficulties or insecurities can arise. With the help of various behavioral-therapy interventions, self-confidence and relationships are strengthened and the ability to handle social situations is built up.
